Dr. Suleiman Al Jasem, President of Fujairah University, announced the launch of the University’s Knowledge Endowment Fund, aimed at enhancing financial sustainability and supporting academic, research, and community programs, in addition to empowering students through scholarships and financial aid for those in need, and allocating returns in ways that serve the educational process.

The announcement was made during a press conference held today (Thursday) at the University’s campus in Fujairah, in the presence of H.E. Mirza Al Sayegh, Chair of the Endowment Fund, members of the University’s Board of Trustees, a number of academic and administrative leaders, and representatives of the media.

Dr. Al Jasem explained that the Fund’s proceeds will be used to support scientific research, innovation, and entrepreneurship, develop the University’s infrastructure, and finance community initiatives, alongside providing student scholarships.

He affirmed that, in the interest of transparency in managing the Fund, the University will establish a specialized committee to oversee it and present periodic reports to contributors in accordance with approved legal and financial frameworks.

The University President noted that the Fund is open to contributions from individuals and institutions across the country—whether through cash or in-kind (real estate) donations, or via partnerships with public and private entities, in addition to dedicated electronic platforms—with the possibility of naming endowments after donors in line with applicable laws and regulations. He added that the Fund’s phased rollout will begin with financing scholarships and research and innovation projects, and will gradually expand to cover long-term strategic initiatives.

Mirza Al Sayegh, Chair of the Knowledge Endowment Fund, concluded by emphasizing that the Fund’s philosophy aligns with the UAE’s vision of building a knowledge-based society that strengthens education, innovation, research, and sustainability. He stressed that the University honors all contributors and supporters through a range of recognition initiatives—such as establishing endowed research chairs, creating buildings, centers, and halls bearing the names of major donors, in addition to scholarships and educational projects, highlighting their names on the University’s official platforms, and granting them medals and certificates of appreciation.

He also clarified that contributors to the Fund have the right to earmark their support for specific areas—such as scholarships, or other domains including research, facility development, innovation, community initiatives, and financial assistance for students.
