Fujairah, UAE – July 24, 2025 – The University of Fujairah (UOF) successfully held a high-impact professional development seminar-workshop titled "Designing for Instructional Impact: Enhancing Learning Outcomes and Curriculum Development to Advance OBEF KPIs in Employability, Learning Quality, and Reputation." The initiative, spearheaded by Dr. Burton A. Aggabao, Director of Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness Affairs, reflects the university's strategic thrust to align academic practices with the UAE's Outcome-Based Evaluation Framework (OBEF) Version 8.
Held on July 24, the workshop brought together deans, faculty, and academic leaders in an engaging full-day event. The program featured plenary messages from President Dr. Sulaiman Aljassim, Vice President for Academic Affairs Prof. Ahmed Ghonim, and Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs Prof. Mohamed Al Shami, setting the tone for a rigorous and collaborative training experience.
Key sessions covered critical themes such as:
• Understanding OBEF V8's six pillars (frameworks, KPIs, and institutional relevance);
• Applying principles of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and the NQFEmirates 2024;
• Designing learning outcomes aligned with CLOs, PLOs, and NQF levels;
• Constructive alignment and curriculum mapping techniques; and
• Reflection and peer review exercises on sample course syllabi.
Through case workshops, hands-on activities, and group critiques, participants were equipped with tools and methodologies to refine course design and drive improvements in teaching effectiveness and student achievement.
Dr. Aggabao emphasized the seminar's contribution to institutional capacity-building:
"This seminar is a pivotal step in cultivating a shared culture of quality assurance and instructional innovation. Our goal is to empower faculty with the frameworks and tools that link learning outcomes to national priorities in employability, lifelong learning, and academic excellence."
The event concluded with a robust peer review session, ensuring that faculty members could apply the training to real-world contexts, thereby paving the way for evidence-based curriculum enhancement and long-term achievement of OBEF KPIs.
